Dad's Rocking Chair

I scored this from my parents once upon a time - I heart wood :D Here's a pic where you can see all it's woody goodness... (Well not ALL of it, I've obviously cut the legs off in this pic - bad photographer!)...

My Mum made a cushion/cover for it when i was a kid, I can't say I've ever really liked the fabric...(Sorry Mum!)...It's just draped over in this pic because I'd already taken it off..

So after buying the teensy cushion for $3.50 in the first pic, i decided to unzip the cushion cover, since i had found the zip just then (lol!) and look what was underneath..

A cool Retro 70's cushion (looks like possibly from my Grandparents outdoor furniture at one stage??) - Much cooler than the 80's country look fabric cover! Im sure it was cooler at the time Mum.
I was thinking of tying a brown ribbon around it to secure it to the chair maybe (Is it just me or is Ribbon expensive?!) - But it has been staying on by itself quite well and Kane has only pulled it off to surf on ONCE so far... OR maybe i can figure out how to cover it using hemmingtape (and craft glue??) and my excess fabric from my bedroom wall art I'm going to make? The outer caramel colour here..

First ever Link-Up to a blog-party!!! Woot. I hope I have actually done it right....Thankyou to the wonderful bloggers who have been inspiring me....Maybe I will even figure out HOW to recover my cushion cover (lol) But until then I'm settling for the easy new look :) Oh and maybe one day I will even paint it white!

DIY Fabric covered Bedhead

On the weekend we made a Bedhead out of wood, cotton wadding and fabric for Sophie's Bed. I think it turned out really well :) I loved how easy it was to do. The most difficult part was the shopping again, working out measurements, materials and then fabrics. I made Sophie use the staple gun so that was easy too LOL. Do you like the contrast with the shocking pink?! We still have another coat and then gloss for the bedside table.

Here is a closeup of the shimmery black fabric (atleast where the flash shows it anyways)...Its black and velvety and looks like diamontes - very sophisticated.

Since my bed already had a frame/bedhead - Im going to settle for fabric wall art above the bed in my room!

I'm linking to a blog-party - Click to see lots of other great blogs and projects :)

Bedroom "Make-over" Started..

Look We have lamps! It's been years since we trusted the kids with lamps, we used to have a nice pair :( But we found these at KMart for $12 each, and they can't smash (well, except the globe *rolls eyes*) so the plan is to see how long they last. I should have taken the photo with them on! Duh.

The swatches of fabric are for wall art... My next project! :D OMFG it took sooo sooooo sooooooo long for me to pick out the fabric at spotlight. Ugh. I think one is blackout blind fabric....but the material types kinda match and same with the colours, right?? (Please tell me yes! lol ). The wall behind the bed is going to be painted a dark brown suede (Yay free leftover paint from my parents) So I can't wait til my Dad "helps" me paint it, he's great like that :D

Do'ya like my fabric? I got 1/2 a metre of the middle panel and a metre of the rest...total of $12 something. I really have no idea how much I actually need, lol. Oh how the spotlight ladies must loathe me he hee.

Our new Dressers. They are supposed to match more. They are cheap cr@p from superAmart, and we have already swapped one over for being dodgy...the old one had a better matching stain *rolls eyes again* But yay coz they are great anyway.

Did you notice my loverly sunflower painting? My Mum painted it for me, she's abit clever :D Look Mum I finally hung it up! (She gave it to me for my birthday in February and it's been sitting in the lounge for everyone to see and enjoy)..

...One day I might even put the frames at the same height. (The nails were already there!)

Port Adelaide "Fishermen's Wharf Market" Finds

These markets are my fave. I LOVE finding stuff there. We went for the last 1.5 hours on Sunday and I was rather pleased with my "presents" that we bought me. Here's most of the stuff we have got from there over the years...

Our wrought iron mirror - isn't it a beauty :D I forget what we paid.

Jewelery box - Pretty :D Also forgot what i paid coz it was a while ago.

THIS is what I found this time! More iron :D The price was marked as $29, but i offered $20 and it was mine :D

AND a lamp I got rather attached too. Was told it was $25, and i offered $20. Mine! :D

They are all proudly sitting on our new dressers in our bedroom (Which we desperately needed and finally bought - think back to that laundry pile picture...*shudder*).

The bedroom is starting to look much nicer...

Laundry "Clean-up"

"Disclaimer; W.I.P. - WORK IN PROGRESS!!!"

No, these are NOT the "Before" Photo's! They were WAY to bad to share on the internet! :o
I still have a way to go's, but if you have actually seen my laundry before, I think you will notice the improvement!

I Still have some jobs to do;

New lace curtains for window (Gah, trip to spotlight that will take hours for me to figure out what lace to actually get besides the all important hemming tape.)

Attach Frame I made/decorated to actual wall.

Get my basket back from Sophie that went on the freezer.

Get a pantry/white laminate double cupboard to use as an extra linen cupboard.

The things on the shelf i bought from OP shops for $1 and $3, except for the laundry bin for washing powder, that was from cheap as chips for $12. The frame i already had, i just put some pretty scrapbook paper inside. I was rather proud.

This corner is still pretty feral, maybe the cupboard will help??

Don't pretend you don't have a clean washing pile like this one! (OK, and ironing pile and folded clothes to be put away pile..) Well, some people do, and I reckon the minority are the one's who don't. So nerrrh. In my defence, despite being quite lazy, I also filled up the actual linen cupboard with toys and boardgames...Sooo I desperately need to get another cupboard and purge the excess linen we don't even use.
Then it will look better yet again. GRIN.
